About our School

Hillside Catholic Academy opened its doors on July 1, 2004. The school was formed by the merging of Christ the King School in Hillside and St. Catherine’s of Sienna School in Elizabeth. Mr. Michael J. Butchko was named Principal of Hillside Catholic Academy in April of 2004.

Hillside Catholic Academy is a co-educational Catholic elementary school.  The school is comprised of Grades Pre-Kindergarten to 8.  Grades Pre-K, 1,2 ,3 ,4,and 5 are self-contained classrooms.
Students are eligible for Pre-Kindergarten who reached the age of 3 or 4 by October 1
Students are eligible for Kindergarten who reach the age of 5 by October 1.

 In 2007-2008 the following Special Classes will be offered to Grades Pre-K 1,2,3,4,5:
Art
Computer
Physical Education
Spanish
Vocal Music

Grades 6, 7, 8 are departmentalized making use of a modified bloc schedule.  Courses are offered in Grammar, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and  Social Studies. 
 
In 2007-2008 the following Special Classes will be offered to Grades 6,7,8

Computer
Geography
Physical Education
Science Lab
Study Skills
Vocabulary
Vocal Music
Writing

Private Instrumental Music Lessons are taught by Future Musicians.  These take place during the school day and are contracted by the parent/guardian with Future Musicians.
